Seaspan Marine Fleet Productivity

On April 16 Seaspan announced that due to the loss of customers in their aggregate and forestry divisions they were forced to make changes in their marine fleet operations in order to increase efficiencies.  Some of the changes include the move of two harbour tugs to call out status and taking two river and two coastal tugs out of service and chartering out that work.  
It is unkown at this time what effect this will have on ship and barge repair work at Vancouver Shipyards.

Next Membership Meeting

Membership Meeting, September 19, 3:30 p.m.
 
All members are encouraged to attend our next membership meeting which will be held on September 19, our normal meeting day, the third Thursday of the month.  The meeting will start at the end of day shift, approximately 3:30 p.m.  This will be our first meeting after the summer break and all members are encouraged to attend.  This is your union, it requires your participation.

Ratification Vote - May 25, 2013

Members of Marine and Shipbuilders Local 506 and UA Local 170 will vote on the memorandum of agreement between the Poly-Party Bargaining Committee and Vancouver Shipyards on Saturday, May 25, 2013.  The meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. and will take place at UA Local 170 Hall, 1658 Foster's Way, Delta, B.C. (Annacis Island).

Memorandum of Agreement

The poly-party bargaining committee has reached a tentative 5 year agreement with Vancouver Shipyards.  Members can see the details in MEMBERS>Memorandum of Agreement.  Members will be informed of the place and date of the ratification vote when they become known.
